Khao Lak offers everything from five-star luxury hotels to budget guesthouses. Here you find 40 km of pure white beaches, on one side and Khao Lak–Lam Ru National Park with its lush rainforest, on the other.
There is no real center of Khao Lak, but along the main – street you will find local restaurants; that offer varied cuisine with delicious seafood, spicy Thai dishes, or a more international menu. The area is also where most bars are located, with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The hotels on the beach front usually have several sun beds, on their own beach areas. But you can easily find your own undisturbed spot where you have the beach and sea for yourself.

Beside our saltwater tours we also offer freshwater lure and fly-fishing trips, to the wild jungle, with pick up from Khao Lak. These freshwater tours are only offered as multi-day trips, minimum 2 days / 1 night. Where target species are Mahseer, different species of Snakehead, Hampala barb and Giant Gourami. For 1 day of freshwater fishing, you only have a 2-hour drive to the best stocked freshwater lake in Thailand. Which boasts some of the largest freshwater fish in the world! Where most days there are caught, large specimens of native Thai fish species like; Giant Mekong Catfish, Siamese Giant Carp and imported species like; Amazon Red-tail Catfish, Alligator gar and Arapaima, just to name some of the most well-known species. You have the diving paradise of the Similian Islands and the Surin Islands Marine National Parks. Which are located a few hours boat ride from Khao Lak. Similian Islands are regarded as one of the ten best, diving sites in the world. A diving spot that offers an incredible variety of marine life. Where you can experience unspoiled scenery, powder-white beaches and crystal-clear water, with coral fish in all colors, Leatherback Sea turtles, Manta rays and Whale Shark.
For those of you that are not into diving or fishing, you may visit one of the beautiful waterfalls. Nam Tok Tone Prai or Nam Tok Lámpi, in the Lam Ru National Park. Which is home to some of the oldest primary forest in the world and is easily accessible. For those who play golf, there is a golf course only 10 km away. There is also the opportunity to learn to cook famous Thai dishes on a Thai Cooking Class. Or try a real Muay Thai workout, other popular activities are exploring “The Little Amazon” and river rafting; in the Takuapa area 25 km north of Khao Lak.
Takuapa has a very interesting cultural heritage, with access to the Andaman Sea, this made it an important international port. Dutch, Portuguese, British Traders and Chinese migrants, started arriving in the 1300s, end in the 1900s. The Old Town is filled with loads of history and a mix of ancient Thai and Chinese-Portuguese architecture. Here you can visit some amazing Temples and in the old town you can explore the local culture, color and taste.
