24 Jan Recent trips have produced many big and beautiful Fish
Last season offered many large and beautiful fish to many of our customers. The water level in the lake was the lowest in a couple of years. But the huge jungle lake and rivers showed again this area provides the best freshwater fishing in Thailand for anglers; looking for a unique fishing experience in the wild.
Many of the fly fishing days in the Jungle Rivers, were outstanding.
When you lose track of how many Mahseer there were caught on a given day you know it’s been good. The season ended with some real Trophy fish to the Australian Fly angler James Lean. After having fly fished in the Jungle Rivers for some days. He chose to spend the last fishing time in the lake and caught a real river monster, which is probably the largest wild Mahseer ever landed on fly in Thailand.
Last fish on the trip was a real trophy Giant Gourami; which is one of the hardest fighting species our Jungle water offers the fly angler. Gourami are an underexplored fly fishing species in Thailand. We believe it is a species that will get much more attention in the future, from fly anglers who are looking, for some wild freshwater fishing in Thailand.
Started with the highest water level in the lake over the last couple of years and some big fish have been caught. The water level drops by over 1 meter per month during the dry season so there are already areas with good weed cover. This provides perfect conditions for the lakes predators; and will offer some great top water action for the lure fisherman that like chasing the lake’s Giant Snakehead.
The water level in the rivers dropped rapidly, so we have had some really good dry fly fishing for Mahseer early this season. We always test some new fly patterns for Mahseer; and some of the new patterns in our fly box this season, look like they are working very well.
